Seed of time was written as a tribute to Elliott Carter in 2003, to celebrate his 95th birthdayfor a special concert in early 2004 at the Angel Orensanz Center for the Arts in New York, organised by Ensemble Sospeso.
It was an honor for me to be part of this event and to be able to personally offer my tribute to a composer who has left a mark in the history of music and whose music has given me so much inspiration in my life as a composer. The piece is based on a melodic cell based on his name. Chords and different transpositions provide the melodic and harmonic material of this work.
