Códice de adivinanzas integrates a reading of five poems in Mayan for children by the poet Briceida Cuevas Cob. My collaboration with her dates back more than ten years. Her poetry has been a constant source of inspiration for my creative work
For several decades, indigenous languages and in particular the Mayan language have been an integral part of my creative work in various formats: either in opera, chamber music or, as in this case, in poetry read aloud. Music has been the vehicle to integrate our contemporary world, our languages that constitute in themselves a fertile literary legacy to the universal poetry of our time. Music enables other dimensions that invite the imagination of our listeners and readers.
Códice de adivinanzas also tries to reach the childlike audience that we all carry within us.
